The Cool Mist Umbrella

In my neck of the woods, the mid-south, it has been as hot as blazes for the entire month of August. June and July were cool and rainy, but August came in ready to fight. We have broken 100 degrees seven or eight times.
So how do you keep your cool under such circumstances?
Well, one clever way to stay cool on the back deck will set you back two C-notes. But I think you will be impressed with the idea.
Today’s FamilyFirst pick sends you to Hammacher Schlemmer, where you can order the Cool Mist Umbrella for your patio table.

I was at the PGA tournament in Tulsa a few days back, and I was blown away by the cooling power of mist. They had a few misting fans strategically placed around the course grounds, and they were popular places indeed.
The Cool Mist Umbrella is described at the site thusly:

This market umbrella provides a constant cooling mist generated from nozzles built into three of its support ribs, providing heat relief in addition to the 95′ sq. of shade of its 11′ canopy. A built-in flexible conduit runs from each nozzle down the length of the umbrellas powder-coated, rust-resistant 9′ aluminum pole and terminates in a threaded universal hose connector at the umbrellas base, allowing you to simply connect the nearest garden hose to generate flow for the mist nozzles. The canopy is made of weather-resistant 100% polyester, and the durable aluminum ribs and spreaders provide years of reliable use.

Hey, maybe you won’t spring for the 200 bucks it takes to get one, but doesn’t it make you feel cooler to just read about it?
